1. Prologue
The land we tread is a mystery.
And always there remains the eternal question:
What can be the purpose of an existence doomed to flicker out?
Can it be that life is a mistake, and that death is right,
For we are all equal when we pass before it.
But our drive to live cries out the contrary.
Can it be, that if we submit to our destiny
Till the hour of our death, that we will learn
That we have been dead from the moment of our birth?
A book always has a last page, a moment when it is closed.
And yet, without an author, or a story, there can be no book.
That is why, I ask myself if being the author of our own lives
Does not mean, that in some way we live forever.
Making, sometimes, choices that no reasonable spirit could imagine.
The One that will come to you seeks a path.
I send him to you for he yearns for liberty and an impossible selfless love.
In coming to you, he must give up his struggles, his sorrows and sufferings;
His pride, and even his need to be loved.
He must risk his life to finally live, so that others may know this freedom:
So that he may become, Himself, capable of this unattainable love.
Today, he took the kind of decision that no rational spirit could entertain.
He accepted the Mission.
2. The Mission
Sent on a winter night
Alone, riding to his destination
Braving darkness and flashes of light,
That he could accomplish his mission:
Bring the letter that will arise
Finally peace and justice in this land
Neither cold nor rain can stop him
His enemies are legion in the dark
Though the wolves are lurking in the night
A secret hope inflames his lion heart!
The mouth of the white frame foaming
Rider of the impossible in the wind
Brambles, thorns across the way
Face covered with blood, the sword by the side
Messenger still carrying away
The desire to honor his solemn promise!
Finally above the mounts the day rises
He stood steady in his frantic race
3. Crystal Ocean Of Tears
Alone, and looking out at the vast ocean,
I feel all my dreams dying, one by one
The memories I thought lost are reappearing,
The waves cast them at my feet like so much junk
But what if it was best to all forget?
With anger and regret
With bitterness and rage
I’m left crying on the beach
My tears are better than the ocean
At wiping out my traces on the strand
In the breakers I can see some faces spinning
In the eddies I must seek them at the edge
My memories are swirled up in the water
My hopes are swallowed up in the abyss
What can I do now to avert my doom?
In my ravaged tearful face I catch a glimpse of yours,
Such an object of desire to now forego!
From your distant untouched lips comes forth no word to me,
Just the caress that of your hand one night I felt
And what if it is best to forget you?
With anger and regret
With bitterness and rage
I’m left crying on the beach.
My tears are better than the ocean
At wiping out my traces on the strand
In the breakers I can see some faces spinning
In the eddies I must seek them at the edge
My memories are swirled up in the water
My hopes are swallowed up in the abyss
What can I do now to avert my doom?
All my broken dreams, my distant memories,
All those far-off, unknown, human shapes,
I just don’t know what it’s all done to me!
I just deliver myself to its dread embrace
As I sought you through those wild crystal waters
From the depths the wrecks of memory re-appear
Dragged up by demented mermaids are the treasures
That I hoped no more to find!
And now my cries are borne away by raging waves and tearing skies
The howling wind, my tears, dries off my cheeks,
And now at last I can know who I am!
4. Lost Children In The World
In their eyes, the blue of the sky
The blue and the sparkling gold,
Two lost children,
Two lost children in the Promised Land
Two lost children walking hand in Hand
Two lost children, walking on the Earth,
Strangers to the madness all around
Riding the Phoenix they escape
It’s just love that frees them from the ground
Riches of your Kingdoms do not tempt them,
Possibilities of Power just leave them cold
Only the treasures of their hearts unleash a wind
It’s the power of Love that forms them growing old
Two lost children, walking on the Earth,
Strangers to the madness all around
Riding the Phoenix they escape
It’s just love that frees them from the ground
Just one amidst this tumult, his eyes seek only her,
Despite her chains, her arms reach out to him:
They are the perfect Seekers
From the prisons of your lives, they seek only Liberty
They scorn your insults, scorn your systems, search for Life...
Two lost children, walking on the Earth,
Strangers to the madness all around
Riding the Phoenix they escape
It’s just love that frees them from the ground
Two lost children, walking on the Earth
Strangers to the madness all around
Seeking, searching, here and there and always
For the Love of a perfect World!
5. Epic Race
[Instrumental]
6. Wind Whispers
Voices coming from beyond the sky
Whisper in my ears into my heart
Stars and secrets of another world
Penetrate into my soul
Freedom, beyond the earth,
Giving the sun a song of victory,
Chasing away shadows and despair,
For a world of honor and glory!
In the depths of the universe,
Many angels with their silver wings,
Such beautiful warriors of light,
Guide us towards the end of times
Freedom, beyond the earth,
Giving the sun a song of victory,
Chasing away shadows and despair,
For a world of honor and glory!
Freedom, beyond the earth,
Giving the sun a song of victory,
Chasing away shadows and despair,
For a world of honor and glory!
Freedom, beyond the earth
Giving the sun a song of victory
Chasing away shadows and despair,
For the glory of eternity!
7. Requiem For A Wise Man
It’s the end of a long quest, a real new beginning,
Renouncing forever the futile search for meaning,
Renouncing forever the futile search for pleasure,
To search on far horizons for life’s real, deepest measure
Adieu to you all! Your Sage has gone on far ahead!
In your ignorance you struggle; you’ll struggle till you’re dead
Bewildered by your questions, dismayed by your ideas,
Felled by your vain certainties and staggered by your tears,
He listened to you weeping the existential scream
But in all your futile fighting, what do you really mean?
Adieu to you all! Your Sage has gone on far ahead!
In your ignorance you struggle; you’ll struggle till you’re dead
On him fall the tears of Heaven
On him and on the Earth around
Let your tears pass from misery to action
Let none forget his tears
That in his life fell to the ground
Adieu to you all! Your Sage has gone on far ahead
In your ignorance you struggle; you’ll struggle till you’re dead
Of him there will remain a living memory
What will we all make of His dark history?
