5. What's Up
1. Woman
[P. Wagner/P. Wagner]
[This is a very new one, written in November '90 and previously unreleased.]
Woman, I know it's not easy to say
But I miss you the longer I'm so far away
You know me, it's not easy to find the words
Woman, I miss you each day in the desert
Woman, tomorrow I might bite the dust
Believe me, I don't want to stay but I must
God help me, I'm so afraid, don't let me down
Oh, woman, I love you, I love you, I love you,
How I long for you, woman
We belong to each other...
Woman, I'm so afraid, don't let me down
Oh, woman, I love you, I love you, I love you,
In the gunfire's roaring sound
When I'm falling to the ground
I can see your face so real
Oh, how I long for you, woman
We belong to each other...
I wish it would be like before
In the days of the cold war
We could play around in peace
Oh how I long for you woman
We belong to each other...
2. Ashes
[P. Wagner/P. Wagner]
[With every new record we've got some songs leftover. "Ashes" is from October '88 and was written during the sessions for "Secrets..."]
Have you ever heard 'bout the people who burned
Somehow immediately down with no reason at all,
They didn't play with fire, they had no deathwish and it
happened in a few minutes, it destroyed them completely
Just like Dr. Bentley, when they found him there was no smoke
nor a spell but the ceiling was burned,
They found his right leg and the morning gown,
It was still intact but the doctor had gone
What's this fire that burns the wires?
Death by fire from the wires
There was nothing left. They found only ashes on the ground
Noone could explain,
Noone would believe it.
It's a phenomenon that's not often been seen,
Like an inner heat burns the body complete.
This is still a riddle that cuts us down to size
We are still quite helpless in our modern days.
What's this fire that burns the wires?
Death by fire from the wires
There was nothing left. They found only ashes on the ground
Noone could explain,
Noone would believe it.
There was nothing left. They found only ashes on the ground
In this cdase it seems that our rules are not worth a dime.
No way to run and hide
the flames come from inside
3. Bottlefield
[P. Wagner, J. Schroeder/P. Wagner]
[This is a fun-version with new words of an very old song from Avenger, the band that became Rage in late '85. It was written in the summer of '83 and appeared on the Avenger album "Prayers Of Steel" (no more available), that came out in May '85. The original title was "Battlefield". We always wanted to do a remake of it because this song is too good to be forgotten. Here is it, last but not least for our fans who followed us from the beginning.]
We are going to attack
Another barrel's cracked tonight
On the banner beer and booze
We rape the bottles on the loose (oh yeah)
Bottlefield
Fun and coma side by side
Bottlefield
Could you say who's at your side?
All they filled up was in vain
Pools remember former times
Smoke and laughter all around
Drunken bodies on the ground
Bottlefield
Fun and coma side by side
Bottlefield
Could you say who's at your side?
There is still a rest of men
Only crap is on their minds
But if they try to get up
The alcohol will tear them down
Bottlefield
Fun and coma side by side
Bottlefield
Could you say who's at your side?
4. Waiting For The Moon
[Wagner, Schmidt/Wagner]
[This song was written in May '90, it's from our latest album "Reflections Of A Shadow".]
I believe in the dark
I am afraid of the world
'Cause it scares me, I know
People don't like me, talk behind my back
Avoiding the look in my disfigured face
I'm just waiting for the moon to come and set me free
And I'm just waiting for moonlight and then my eyes you can see
I'm just waiting for the moon to come and set me free
Because the moonlight can release me from my misery
Hide my face in the day
Tonight I'll set myself free
I'm addicted too moonlight
Run with the wind, feel the wet in the air
A pleasure for me and my distorted soul
I'm just waiting for the moon to come and set me free
And I'm just waiting for moonlight and then my eyes you can see
I'm just waiting for the moon to come and set me free
Because the moonlight can release me from my misery
Hid my face in the day
Tonight I'll set myself free
Run with the wind, feel the wet in the air
Oh, how I'm longing for it
A pleasure for me and my distorted soul
I feel like the cat walkin' on a wall
I'm just waiting...
5. What's Up
[Wagner, Schmidt]
[instrumental]
[A quick one to warm your fingers. We're used to play things like this before rehearsing. Originally we wanted to put it on "Reflections..." as a bonus but we already had too much material.]
