3. Bloodshed
4. Rebel Of Reason
1. Scandal
[July 1989]
[Lyrics by T. Denlinger, Music by C. Turner, T. Swarthout, R. Feltman, M. Simione, T. Denlinger]
Many of us have been called by God to teach the world about Gods free gift of salvation but we have sin in our lives.
Brothers and sisters, grab it by the throat and rip it out of your lives or get out of the ministry.
We wrote this song as a reminder for us.
Please pray for us.
Thanks!
[Verse 1]
In the beginning
vision is clear
Souls are dying
Christ is near (Deuteronomy 31: 6-8)
Spirit is working
nothing to fear
Comfort in Jesus
shedding no tears
[Verse 2]
Times are changing but you cannot see
You are straying from reality
Fooling the people and fooling yourself
You're no different than anyone else
[Chorus 1]
Scandal ... never you say
Scandal ... but you like to play
Scandal ... from Him you hide
Scandal ... fried by your pride (Proverbs 16:180
[Verse 3]
Battle is raging
you feel like a fake
Thinking it through (Matt. 5: 27-28)
you know what's at stake
Selfish and greedy
potential is lost (1 John 2: 16-17)
Voided and useless
you're driven by lust (Proverbs 5)
[Chorus 2]
Scandal ... Satan laughs!
Scandal ... demons roar
Scandal ... a battle is lost
Scandal ... in the heat of the war.
2. Don't Chase The Rainbow
[September 1988]
[Lyrics by C. Turner, T. Denlinger, Music by C. Turner]
Suicide never solves any problems.
It only makes things worse especially if you dont know Jesus.
Sometimes we get so depressed that we lose perspective on making good choices.
Satan doesnt care about you.
He is the father of lies and paints a pretty picture of happiness through suicide.
When you get to know Jesus, you realize that every single problem in your life is allowed by Him to make you a better person (Romans 8:28).
When your life seems too hard and you feel like giving up, ask Jesus to talk to you through the Bible and read the book of Psalms.
He will never fail you.
[Verse 1]
Feel the rope make the rope much tighter
Standing up on top of a chair
In your mind someone has told you
Go ahead no one will care
[Verse 2]
Feel the tears as they fall downward
Taste the salt running down your face
If you don't they'll think you're a coward (1 Corinthians 15: 33)
Blow your brains all over the place.
[Chorus]
Don't chase the rainbow (Genesis 3/ Luke 8: 12)
You will burn in Hell (2 Thessalonians 1: 8-9)
Christ is your answer (Acts 4: 12)
He will break the spell (John 16: 33)
[Verse 3]
Razor blades shining in the sunlight
Catch the gleam from the sight of your eye
Satan says as you look in the mirror
No one loves you, you might as well die! (2 Corinthians 4: 4)
[Verse 4]
Memories are passing by you
Thinking back to the times you had
Then comes the evil ones voice again
You are mine, come and see the end!
[Verse 5]
The death of poison twisting
Your life squeezed from your veins
You gasp but life is over (Hebrews 9: 27)
Your body laced with pain
[Verse 6]
Standing before the fire (Revelation 20: 11-15)
You never knew the Son (Matthew 7: 33/ John 3: 18/ John 5: 24)
But now you're lost forever
Your chance for life is gone.
3. Bloodshed
[July 1989]
[Lyrics by T. Denlinger, Music by C. Turner, T. Swarthout, R. Feltman, M. Simione, T. Denlinger]
The Bible says that all of mankind was born with a desire to sin (Romans 3:23).
That desire separates you from a perfect God (Romans 6:23).
The only way to please God is someone’s death for your sin (Hebrews 9:22).
Because you were born a sinner (all of us were) this separates you from God.
Therefore you are already destined to pay for your own sin unless you accept Christ’s death on the cross as a substitute for you (Romans 8: 1,2).
This was God’s act of love for us (John 1: 12-13).
Blood was shed by the very God who created you (Hebrews 9:22).
That is true love (Romans 5:8) and it shows us true forgiveness (Hebrew 10:17).
If you reject His act of love for you as your substitute, you will pay for your own sins by burning in hell forever ...alone (Revelation 20:15 / John 5: 24 & 20:31 / Romans 10 :9-10).
[Verse 1]
Demons running wild through lustful wavelengths (Ephesians 6: 10-12)
Watering the seeds I’ve sown (Job 4: 8/ Proverbs 22: 8/ Galatians 6: 7-8)
Up and down all around everywhere I look
Except the Sovereign Throne (James 1: 13-15)
[Verse 2]
Caught in a trap that was set to daze me
Lies rip deep to my soul (1 Timothy 4:1)
Torn and bruised my energy is gone
While guilt’s steel grip takes it’s toll (Psalm 38: 4,51/ Hebrews 10: 22)
[Chorus]
As by one man, sin shot thru (Romans 5: 12-17)
Brought down, ripped in two (Genesis 3: 23-24/ Isaiah 59:2/ Ephesians 4: 18-19)
One Man came to die (John 3: 16-18/ 1:14)
Bloodshed so you won’t fry! (Hebrews 9: 14,22-28)
[Bridge]
As a boy I delighted to see Your mighty Hand grace mounts of green (Job 38-42)
You took me through Your woods of wonder to see Your work ... just You and I (Job 36: 26 – 37:13)
Wonder and awe they kept me there that perfect place where sin was lost
But I was there still young at heart and bound by the sin that held us apart. (Romans 3: 23)
[Verse 3]
Embracing the lust of youthful failure (2 Timothy 2: 22)
He waits in the stillness of my wisdom (Psalm 46:10/ Proverbs 2)
I foolishly search for selfish ambition (James 3: 14-16)
While thousands are lost forever (Ephesians 5: 15-17)
4. Rebel Of Reason
[May 1988]
[Lyrics by T. Denlinger, Music by C. Turner, T. Swarthout, R. Feltman, M. Simione, T. Denlinger]
Uncontrolled anger is not only dangerous but God calls it sin (James 1: 19-20). In contrast, righteous anger can expose an injustice or speak out against a false misguiding philosophy (Romans 12: 9-11). Righteous anger is the mood of this song. We live in a world which is Satan’s domain (John 12:3 / 2 Corinthians 4:4 / Ephesians 2:2). His purpose is to lead people away from Jesus. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father except through Me.” Rebel of Reason will hopefully challenge you to think about your life in relation to God’s truth.
[Verse 1]
Tell me why rebellion wins
When life is snuffed away (Proverbs 10:27)
Bite the Hand that feeds your soul
And throw it all away (Proverbs 11:5)
Burn in hell alone in bitter agony (2 Thessalonians. 1: 8-9)
Realizing when you’re there (Luke 13:28)
You’ve got to be set free
But choices are eternal (Matthew 25:46)
And now you’re all alone
To burn and cry and wish (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9)
You had believed on the Son! (Matthew 6:21-23)
[Chorus]
You’re a rebel, a rebel of reason (Proverbs 1:7)
[Verse 2]
Freedom of speech, yeah that’s your rule
To live and do as you please (Ephesians 2: 1-3)
Selfish pride controls your thoughts (2 Timothy 3: 2-5/ Philippians 2:3)
You live your life with ease
“Get out of my life! You’ve got your own ... (Proverbs 14:12)
... don’t tell me what to do.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)
Wisdom sort of slips your mind (Ephesians 5: 15-17)
You’re talking like a fool (Proverbs 12:23)
You’re saying by your lifestyle that God does not exist (1 Corinthians 1:25)
Soon you’ll stand before Him (Revelation 20: 11-15/ Hebrews 10:31)
And see the Truth you missed (John 14:6).
[Verse 3]
The God we serve is righteous (Psalm 11:7)
His promises stand true (2 Peter 3: 9 & 13)
Hanging on that bloody cross (Isaiah 53)
He did it all for you (John 3: 16-17)
This life is but a vapor (Psalm 144: 4)
And all you have will pass (Matthew 6: 19-21)
So think about your future now (Ephesians 5: 15-17)
Rebellion never lasts (1 Samuel 15:23)
Yes, you will die (Hebrews 9:27)
God has no mercy if you reject His Son (John 3: 16-21)
Depart from Me your fate is sealed (Matthew 25: 41-46)
There’s no more time to run! (Isaiah 10: 3-4)
Selah (Hebrew word meaning “pause and think”)

Special Thanks
To the God we serve who is all powerful and sovereign over everything we see and cannot see. Thank You, Father, for Your love, Your guidance, Your protection and Your forgiveness when we disobey You. Thank You, Jesus, for dying for us on that horrible day in Jerusalem.
We live for You and want to obey Your command to teach all nations about what You did for them. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for Your vision and illumination as we read the Holy Scriptures. Thank You also for Your power that You give us as we go. Without Your power, our work here for You would be a waste.
To our wives, Barbara, Cince, Anne and Ruth: We thank you for your patience, support, encouragement, insight, vision, sacrifice and love. Thanks for the many meals, the hospitality and the many miles shared on the road. We pledge our love and faithfulness to you and our children before God.
Thank you, Tim Swarthout, for your rhythm guitar work, miles of companionship in travel, your hospitality and friendship. Thank you, Dave Kurtz, for your keyboards and to Chris Alex and Mark Van Gorder for your background vocals in “Bloodshed”.
