1. Shadow Over A Bleeding Heart
no windows in this room,
yet there is a shadow that has fallen over this bleeding heart.
it has fallen to sweep me off this tattered ground
that i have memorized with my hands.
each crack has been a tailored picture of this life.
i bleed these memoirs these fading pictures of a shell that used to be.
once existing as an impression, but the fire never took.
imperfection within the due process but there you are enveloping me again.
every touch, a feeling of saturation,
a restructuring of a vessel going to the wheel.
this has reversed the depletion of a hemorrhaging heart.
pressing back to something beautiful
2. Letting Go Would Be An End
this moment will bring us there as we drink from each other's eyes.
as i slip further into a tranquil time of abandonment,
i find that it would be a relinquished dream not to stay.
within my buried heart there is a fire that is burning with an emotion,
unsealed by no other.
to let go at this point would be an unforgiving end to this affair.
like a blanketed child i am covered with wings of adoration, it is so warm.
these eyes are shut for fear of opening to an end.
i know i can't hold on forever but stay long with me
3. The Quotidian Succession
your face has cascaded down like leaves in autumn's sequence.
i see you have grown fainthearted,
famished by the quotidian succession.
the savor of the vine has left your tongue of communion,
for your wineskin has not been preserved.
you have been drawn away led astray by frivolous desire,
but this deterrent will not hold you down, nor hold you back.
lift your chin and open your eyes, for the sky is falling on you.
for in your wanting you have been found.
in your search His eyes have not turned.
return to your first love and shatter this daily cycle.
4. Sifting Through These Ashes
there is much to be gained from the disregarded ways of the past.
how futile we have been in our new ideologies.
fighting against what we have become.
burying us a under a cloak of religion.
collapsing fragments of life have fallen down around us.
on our knees we try to piece things back together.
parts like sifting sand slip through our fingertips.
within these ashes lies beauty forgotten.
search us to find what has been lost within.
reveal what we do not see in and of ourselves
5. Beauty Forgotten
let's not let the sun go down
6. Lament
let's not let the sun go down.
to me, tonight is like a farewell from a silent yet beautiful dream.
why do I have to run away?
i want to stay with You.
i don't seem to want to understand.
it is so cold inside this shelter that I call home.
laying naked in the winds of reform.
dragging my feet and covering my ears.
i want to escape, to break out of this norm.
i am crying for more.
7. Unsteady Docks Along The Ohio
these blue skies have turned grey.
our years have long departed.
the only thing we have left are memories.
to you she has already walked away.
will we ever cherish our time
or do we toss like the docks along the ohio.
it is sad to see you choke on your own bitterness.
choke on it and i will watch you drown in yourself.
go ahead and push away the hand that is open.
push on me again and i will walk away
8. Portrait
we serve god in the image that we have painted.
honor and reverence has been filtered through the sifter of our minds.
cultural influenced thinking
and misspoken word have distorted the truth.
so many times we have taken a past experience
and allowed it to carry us to the future,
while new revelation is placed on the backburner.
then we wonder why illumination is so dim in our lives.
the more extensive our comprehension of god's greatness,
the greater god can move upon the canvas of our lives,
to paint a portrait of honor
9. Three Months
in the deepest solitude there is a road.
10. Can One Possess Autumn?
refusing to identify with the pattern of life.
out of the state of my mind but in the blanket of my heart, i find rest.
it is not i that i have found.
i'm a man and who am i.
like waves imprinting on the sand so your hand has molded this clay.
this love gazes and holds it's breath and is silent.
affections immeasurable, an abandoning of clamor,
yet roused by the whisper of your still small voice.
i would still frame this moment to obtain beauty forever.
i would crawl through thorns to possess autumn.
to kiss, to hold, to touch your love
