1. Care
[In the near future... The Prophet awakens]
I try to help but things get out of hand
For some reason
I try to tell the truth but they react like I have
Spoken treason
I reach to lift the veil that shows the profit
Eating up our nation
The siren's voice is strong like medicine
It darkens our relations
You think that I don't care
I don't think that I could care more than I do
You faith has left you there
I don't think that I could care more than I do
The Owner fans the flames easily
Keeping our attention
And while he diverts our eyes his wagon passes by
Without a mention
I try to lift the veil to show the beast
Feeding on my nation
But now we've chosen sides and faith won't let you have
That conversation
You say that I don't care
I don't think that I could care more than I do
You faith has left you there
I don't think that I could care more
You say that I don't care
I don't think that I could care more than I do
You faith has left you there
I don't think that I could care more
2. Stain On The Sun
[Inspired by a deep sense of responsibility the Prophet begins his mission to point out that things are very wrong]
There is a stain on the Sun
It could be trouble for everyone
As we drift along in space
To the drone of the commonplace
Do you think about it
Do you ever think about it
Tighten up your grip
And pray to god that no-one slips
As we drift along in space
To the sound of the marketplace
Do you think about it
Do you ever think about it
Do you think about it
(There's a stain on the Sun)
Do you ever think about it
(There's a stain on the Sun)
Do you think about it
(There's a stain on the Sun)
Do you ever think
3. Water
[The Prophet is surprised at the overwhelming negative response from These Who Will Not See.
He learns that Truth is often like an enemy: It hurts, It cuts, It is not easily accepted,
It causes Those Who Will not See to put up barriers and sometimes attack... but the Prophet continues to reason]
I walked up and stood at the edge of the view
And I looked around
We took in the curve of the massive horizon
And the lives on the ground
I didn't know what to say
I had to ask anyway
Tell me
How will we live without water
How long will we dance with the hand
Of our own devil's daughter
The drones fell in line with incredible numbers
And I felt defeat
'Cause the spell was too strong and they were in slumber
So I stared at their feet
I had to ask anyway
Tell me
How will we live without water
How long will we listen to lies
From our own devil's daughter
Tell me
How will we live without water
How long will we dance with the hand
Of our own devil's daughter
4. Stop
[For the first time a few listen.
They gather their voices as one to encourage Those Who Will Not See to have hope... but time is short]
Yeah, I know it's the last thing
That you wanna hear
I know it's not easy
I know it isn't clear
But we can do it if we do it now
We can do it if we do it now
We can change if we stop
We are better when we just get together
We can change if we stop
We're out of time if we wanna try
We can change if we stop
We are better when we just get together
We can change if we stop
We're out of time if we wanna try
Decide
Yeah, I know it is the last thing
That you wanna hear
But we can do it if we do it now
Yeah, we can do it if we do it now
We can change if we stop
We are better when we just get together
We can change if we stop
We're out of time if we wanna try
We can change if we stop
We are better when we just get together
We can change if we stop
We're out of time if we wanna try
Decide
We can change if we stop
We're out of time if we wanna try
Decide
5. Perfect Lines (Flyin')
[Almost no one listens.
The Prophet's initial exuberance is dampened by weariness as Those Who Will Not See become more determined to look away.
They mock the Prophet while spreading lies about him.
He is perplexed that being Truthful can fuel such unbridled hatred.
The Prophet remembers how easy it was when He Would Not See]
Tin sounds and the nagging of change
Planted feet that won't rearrange
Big hope getting harder to change
I wish I was flying
Out there again
I wish I was flying
Flying again
Ten thousand hard miles to go
It's gonna take forever going this slow
And the timing is the one fatal blow
I wish I was flying again
When I was a little boy
I had to go to school
Following my best with every rule
Perfect lines all the time
Never questioning or straying from the lines
I wish I was flying
Out there again
I wish I was flying
Flying again
6. Mr. Man
[The Prophet attempts to take His message to those at the top... The Profiteers]
Mr. Man would you let me get past you
would you let me through
I gotta get to the end of the hallway
Just let me get by you
Mr. Man why you holdin' up your hand
What did you say to me
I'll just keep staring at the end of the hallway
And hope that you will see
Mr. Man don't ya do me like that
Hey Man don't ya do me like that
Mr. Man don't ya do me like that
Hey Man don't ya do me like that
Just because I won't be your honey
Just because I won't play your hand
Just because I won't be the star of your team
You won't give anybody a hand
Mr. Man don't ya do me like that
Hey Man don't ya do me like that
Mr. Man don't ya do me like that
Hey Man don't ya do me like that
Mr. Man don't ya do me like that
Man don't ya do me like that
Hey Mr. Man don't ya do me like that
Hey don't ya do me like that
Hey
7. Memphis
[The local community turns against The Prophet and his Followers. He is run out of town.
As the Followers disperse to hide, The Prophet hears that The Profiteers are killing Followers in Memphis.
He wants to help... if he can only get there in time]
Driving down to Memphis
To see what I can see
Trying to get away from
All these people chasing me
When I tried to tell them
"Something's looking wrong"
They said they would hang me
Get back where I belong
I've got to get away
Driving down to Memphis
Get me out of here
I've got to get away
[Upon arrival The Prophet sees he is too late]
See the burning water
Smoke is in the air
See the people turning
Who couldn't give a care
See the smiling vulture
Wine glass in his hand
See the sneer across his face
As darkness fills the land
I've got to get away
Driving down to Memphis
Get me out of here
I've got to get away
I've got to get away
Driving down to Memphis
Get me out of here
8. Ghost Town
[The Prophet summons His Followers in hiding for now they will gather together in a deserted town while making new plans]
Smoke was rising as we left the station
We grabbed the nearest thing and then we ran
Like running through an open door
To something never seen before
We were
Running through a ghost town
Running through a ghost town
The sky was racing by as we looked below us
We were the lucky ones cause we would get away
Like living the impossible
Like floating through an obstacle
We were
Running through a ghost town
Running through a ghost town
We headed out to a new place
To find a truth we could embrace
We were
Running through a ghost town
Running to a place where the sun goes down
We headed out to a new place
To find a truth we could embrace
We were
Running through a ghost town
Running through a ghost town
We were
Running through a ghost town
9. Heaven
[After regrouping and reaffirming their mission the Prophet and his Followers try another approach.
This time they will go before The Spiritual Masters of Those Who Will Not See...
After all, The Masters' scrolls command that they be responsible for Mother Earth.
The Prophet feels He must remind them of this, but he knows it's dangerous.
The Masters are close friends with the Profiteers]
Got no winning ticket
No guarantee
No way to calm the waves
Of instability
No new-found wreckage
No treasure chest
No magic closet that will
Save you from the rest
If your place in heaven
Will you find your head in the sand
If your place in heaven
Will you bury your face in the sand
No independence
No magic ring
No way that you aren't a part
Of every single thing
Can't escape consequences
Can't escape life
Can't hold your breath forever
And you won't hide the knife
If your place in heaven
Will you find your head in the sand
If your place in heaven
Will you bury your face in the sand
If your place in heaven
Will you find your head in the sand
If your place in heaven
Will you bury your face in the sand
10. Permanent Hold
[Instrumental]
[The Prophet and Followers wait.
Their journey is determined this night.
All hope rests on the message of The Prophet getting through to The Masters of Those Who Will Not See]
[An Answer Arrives.
The Spiritual Masters of Those Who Will Not See betray The Prophet.
They say He is a False Prophet, a liar.
He is The Enemy.]
11. Fallen
[The Prophet is stunned, dejected and silent.
He indulges in a moment of self pity.
He knows he has failed to convince The Masters... the last hope of Mother Earth]
I used to soar across the sky with big
Angel wings
I used to stand atop the mountain and see
Everything
Then I awoke from the breath of a
Frozen wind
I closed my eyes 'cause I didn't want to
See again
I am fallen
We used to run holding hands wearing
Golden crowns
And we would land on a cushion when we
Did fall down
Then we were faced with the breath of a
Frozen wind
We closed our eyes 'cause we didn't want to
See again
'cause at the finish line we stopped and let the
Money win
We are fallen
12. Strong Belief
[The Prophet and the Followers understand that no one who stays behind will survive.
It is time to leave.
Their only hope is to reach a space station owned by The Profiteers.
They will hide their Truths for now.
It is the only way to survive.
The Prophet looks back on the disappearing Earth.
He ponders.
How did we let it come to this.]
It was feeling kind of strange
We glided out of range
'cause we were moving on
Past the point of no return
We stood and watched it burn
'cause we were moving on
The words bounced right off you
And no matter how true
You wouldn't see
We were just trying to convince you
But nothing ever got through
Your strong belief
(Strong belief)
